The Ardèche

Your holiday home is in a perfect spot: Le Moulin de Lande is situated right in the heart of the Ardèche. It lies in the foothills of the Ardèche mountains, the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d’Ardèche. Far from the crowds and the beaten track you are at a short distance from the Gorges de l’Ardèche and the Pont d’Arc, the Gorge of the Chassezac or the Bois de Païolive. Some of the most renowned caves of France can be found here, like the Aven d’Orgnac. Discover small, remote valleys like the Vallée de la Drobie or go to the Plateau Ardéchois at 1300 metres above sea level. Again very different are the old volcanic areas around the Mont Gerbier de Jonc, the source of the river Loire. By car, bike or on foot you can enjoy all these landscapes to the full.

Walks and mountain bike tracks start at your front door. Rental mountain bikes are available for those who are interested. Many outdoor activities are within easy reach. There is, of course, the well-known canoeing on the Ardèche river, but also rafting, canyoning, horseback riding or tree-climbing are possible. Many activities are suited for ages of 5 years and upwards. For real die-hards, there are even more possibilities like rock climbing, parapente or caving.

Beautiful villages like Chassiers, Largentière, Balazuc, Vogüé, Labeaume and other ‘Villages de Caractère’ are within easy reach. You can visit castles and museums, like the Grotte Chauvet 2 (replica of the “Grotte Chauvet”, UNESCO World Heritage site). Quality of life in the Ardèche is high: traditional festivals are all year round and local recipes with bio-food and drink are much appreciated. For lovers of fine food and wine, there is a lot to discover. Various ‘caves’ offer wine tasting. A typical French morning market is the ideal places to buy fresh local produce. In summer there are also quite a few evening markets.
